Hook had to be replaced in the 38th minute of the match in Limerick following the injury - his last action in an Ospreys shirt. The Perpignan-bound playmaker was confident the injury was not too serious, but Ospreys head coach Scott Johnson was less optimistic and fears it could impact on his availability for Wales.
"He thought it was a 'stinger' but I'm not so confident," said the former Wales and Australia coach told The Wales on Sunday. "For James to come off is unusual. It might be a bit more than he is saying, but let's hope, for his and Wales' sake, that's not the case."
Hook was already due to miss Wales' match with the Barbarians on June 4 as he is getting married the same day. But Wales coach Warren Gatland will be eager to get him back in the fold ahead of Wales' World Cup warm-up games against England on August 6 and 13, and Argentina on August 20.
The 25-year-old will be desperate to play a full role in Wales' preparations as he looks to stake his claim for the No.10 jersey in the national side at the World Cup after being shifted around the back division for so long.
